Hair Stylist
Looking for talented experienced licensed Hair Stylist to join our growing professional team. Responsibilities:
  • Exceptional communication and listening skills to provide a full consultation 
  • Recommend hairstyles and haircuts according to customers’ face shape, life style and taste
  • Cut, trim and shave hair using professional equipment
  • Apply a wide range of hair coloring techniques, like highlights, ombre and balayage
  • Create hairstyles for formal events and everyday looks, including braids, ponytails and buns
  • Apply hair treatment products, as needed (e.g. color protection creams and hydrating masks)
  • Form bonds with loyal customers and remember their hairstyle preferences
  • Manage bookings and serve walk-ins
  • Ensure tidiness of beauty stations and sterilize tools, as needed
  • Educate clients on hair care regime
Skills:
  • Work experience as a Hair Stylist, Hairdresser, Colorist or similar role
  • Proficiency in hair straightening and curling methods, using hot irons and curlers
  • Hands-on experience with various coloring techniques
  • Knowledge of a wide range of haircuts, suitable for all hair lengths (e.g. braids and top knots)
  • Familiarity with hair treatment products and services,
  • Up-to-date with industry trends
  • Excellent communication skills
Requirements:
  •  Active Illinois Cosmetology License
  •  In the industry 2+ years

Midwest Young Artists Conservatory
Marketing, Scheduling, Competitions and Festivals Coordinator
MYAC is one of the largest and most comprehensive 501 © 3 non-profit youth-music ensemble programs in the Midwest offering Orchestra, Chamber Music, Jazz, Choral and Music Theory Programs. MYAC operates in a state-of-the-art facility in the community of Fort Sheridan.

Responsibilities include:
  • Assist in creating marketing materials to promote MYAC events, including press releases, advertisements, flyers, programs, posters, emails and online content
  • Assist with MYAC weekly and monthly newsletters
  • Work with Development staff to develop MYAC’s concert program book, including soliciting schools and businesses for program ads, writing content, and preparing the book for printing
  • Develop and execute plans for using social media tools for communications to target audiences
  • Keep MYAC website up to date
  • Assist in Public Relations efforts, including writing press releases, maintaining media lists and developing media relationships
  • Ensure that MYAC events are listed in local print and online media calendars
  • Work with Program Coordinators to collect content for event and program marketing
  • Work with Development Associate to create materials for fundraising events and campaigns, as well as the capital campaign.
  • Work with existing staff to coordinate MYAC’s Young Music Scholars Program and offer students fromunderserved communities opportunities to have private lessons and participate in MYAC ensembles.
  • Schedule building usage.
  • Assist in organizing MYAC run competitions – Walgreens Concerto Competition in late December and Chicago Chamber Music Competition in February.
  • Assist in organizing MYAC run festivals in June including the Double Bass Fest, Viola Fest, and Double Reed Fest.

Desired Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor Degree with preference for a degree in Communications, Advertising, Marketing, Journalism, Music or similar field.
  • Interest or background in classical, jazz and choral music.
  • Experience using social media as a marketing tool.
  • Strong written communication skills, including writing, editing, and proofreading.
  • Excellent verbal skills, with the ability to speak credibly and articulately with reporters, staff, parents, and Board members
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Self-starter who can work with minimal supervision
  • Strong computer skills, especially using Office 365 (Word and Excel), MailMerge, Constant Contact, Squarespace, Google Drive. Knowledge of/experience with Salesforce is a plus.
